Ah Micah, so much I could say, but I’ve kept it to myself here thus far, so why bother?
But I could share an expose about getting into shows with the Spinners… any interest?

I will post about it – probably draw some flak, but I think the ticket thing was an interesting aspect of tour life.

Re: M - Yes I do, but it has been many years since we last hung out. Give her my best (if you know my name.)
And I am here every day; I just don’t have that much to say. :)

Hey D--please, do tell...would love to hear more.

I have to assume this happened post 70s? IE, I missed out for that reason? Or, per usual, my own inability to see what was right in front of my face?

I am not even sure you're speaking about the folks we termed "twirlers", so that's how much I have to learn...

The 'spinner family' sprung up on tour in the mid eighties. They didn't have exclusive rights to the act of twirling, and there was much more to their sad story than dancing, but since you asked so nicely I will post about the ticket thing. ;)

how did they get in?

I was just sharing stories about the spinners that made me fall over laughing; this guy I just met said the spinners hated him!! He was from Ny and looked like an average Joe. He said they corralled him at Nassau or msg and were spinning him through their crowd, they veered him out one of the exit doors and slammed it...they put him out of the show!

I was on a greyhound with a rather disaffected and lovely former spinner girl. She was with the leader of the group for a while but said it as a cult.

Funny post by bluedevil and the highlights
When asked how he felt about the Jerry is God phenomena, Garcia responded with characteristic humor, "Anybody who thinks I'm God should talk to my kids." Did he mind being the focal point of a religious group? "Well, I'll put up with it until they come for me with the cross and the nails."

Any more stories?
Or any other interesting subgroups?
